Phần nhà ở được cải tạo từ 3 ngôi nhà ống liền kề. Gia chủ còn mua thêm đất phía sau để làm sân vườn vì yêu thích thiên nhiên.
Ngôi nhà nằm trên con đường giao thông tấp nập, buôn bán sầm uất ở thành phố Thanh Hóa. Mặt tiền nhà được dùng cho công việc kinh doanh.
Phía sau nhà là một thế giới khác hẳn với không gian sân vườn hồ cá yên tĩnh xanh mát.
Từ ngôi nhà ống 100 m2 ban đầu, vợ chồng chủ nhà mua thêm nhà, đất của hàng xóm xung quanh vì mong muốn có không gian rộng rãi để làm sân vườn, nâng tổng diện tích toàn bộ khuôn viên vào khoảng 700 m2. Khu vực xây nhà 3 tầng có tổng diện tích mặt sàn là 600 m2.
Cách đây khoảng 6 năm, gia chủ từng tự sửa nhà nhưng vẫn thấy không gian bí bách. Năm 2018, họ quyết định tìm đến các kiến trúc sư của FRI Architects với mong muốn có một không gian sống nhiều cây xanh, nội thất gọn gàng, khoa học đồng thời có một shop bán hàng với mặt tiền ấn tượng.
Kiến trúc sư Nguyễn Quyền, người chịu trách nhiệm cải tạo công trình cho biết, khi anh tiếp nhận, không gian khá lộn xộn bởi được lắp ghép từ ba nhà lô có ba kiểu mặt tiền khác nhau. Dù chủ nhà chỉ yêu cầu sửa ít nhưng không hề đơn giản. Các bản vẽ được thay đổi nhiều lần để dung hòa mong muốn của chủ nhà với tư duy phá cách của kiến trúc sư.
Nhà quay về hướng Tây. Kiến trúc sư đã cho trồng cây xanh ở các ô cửa sổ phía mặt tiền để làm giảm bức xạ của mặt trời cũng như ngăn chặn tiếng ồn và khói bụi từ đường phố mang lại. Những khung cửa trắng đầy hoa lá của ngôi nhà khiến dãy phố cũng dịu mát theo.
Bếp, phòng khách, phòng ngủ chính được xây mới toàn bộ. Ba phòng ngủ còn lại sửa từ cấu trúc cũ nhưng vẫn đảm bảo hiện đại, thoáng mát. Vừa cải tạo vừa xây mới khiến việc thi công kéo dài 6 tháng.
Phòng khách tràn ngập ánh sáng.
Phòng bếp rộng rãi để chủ nhà thỏa niềm đam mê nấu nướng và làm bánh.
Phòng ăn liên thông với phòng bếp.
Nhà vệ sinh mới đẹp không kém gì ở resort 5 sao.
Cầu thang gỗ ấn tượng.
Ngôi nhà có tông màu trầm, mang nhiều tính tự nhiên như màu gỗ, màu đá, đem lại cảm giác dễ chịu, gần gũi với thiên nhiên.
Mọi không gian trong nhà đều tràn ngập màu xanh.
Hồ cá như một điểm nhấn trong khu vườn phía sau nhà.
