Người chồng lớn lên ở Hà Nội còn người vợ quê gốc miền Tây có một nơi ở ưng ý, hợp với lối sống của cả hai.
Nhìn từ xa, ngôi nhà ở quận Cái Răng (Cần Thơ) có vẻ ngoài giản dị với ba khối liên kết bởi những khoảng sân trong. Đây là nơi ở của một gia đình trẻ có sự hòa trộn giữa hai nền văn hóa khác biệt. Người chồng từ Hà Nội chuyển vào còn vợ anh là người con gái miền Tây.
Mặt tiền của nhà khá đặc biệt, giống như bốn khung cửa xếp liền kề có những khoảng trống ở giữa. Nhờ đó, ánh sáng có thể chiếu xuyên xuống giúp không gian bên dưới có những khoảng nắng lung linh vào ban ngày.
Chủ nhà đã nhờ người bạn thân là KTS Tạ Tiến Vĩnh cùng các cộng sự ở Landmak Architecture thiết kế một nơi ở gợi nhớ về những ngôi nhà ở Hà Nội mà vẫn có nét kiến trúc địa phương.
Đó là lớp mái ngói lô xô giống trong tranh về phố phường Hà Nội của họa sĩ Bùi Xuân Phái hay các khoảng sân trồng cây xanh trong nhà ống.
Màu gỗ nâu trầm mặc hay các khung cửa uốn cong gợi nhớ nếp nhà xưa cũ của đất Hà thành.
Nhà được xây dựng ở mảnh đất miền Tây, nơi con người sống cởi mở, phóng khoáng, thích hòa mình với thiên nhiên. Bởi vậy, người thiết kế tạo ra một không gian mở tối đa, xuyên suốt từ đầu tới cuối nhà.
Thay cho cổng cao đóng kín là những bức vách hở kết hợp với cây xanh tạo nên sự kín đáo tương đối cho chủ nhà.
Ngôi nhà sử dụng chủ yếu các đường thẳng, mặt phẳng nhưng thu hút với sự phong phú về vật liệu. Cách xếp gạch giúp các bức tường mộc quét sơn trắng trở nên tinh tế hơn.
Đặc điểm khí hậu mưa nắng thuận hòa giúp cây cối ở đây nhanh chóng xanh tươi. Chủ nhà có thể tận hưởng màu xanh của thiên nhiên từ bất kỳ góc phòng nào với những khung cửa mở rộng.
Giữa không gian nội thất tối giản kết hợp với những nét đồng quê mộc mạc, kiến trúc sư chọn các tác phẩm trang trí phù hợp.
Ngoài thang nội bộ, giữa các khối nhà có cầu bắc ngang. Chủ nhà thích thú với sự kết nối này bởi vừa có cảm giác gần gũi với nhà ống ở phố cổ Hà Nội vừa gợi nhớ những cây cầu lắt lẻo ở miền Tây.
Những cánh cửa chớp được sử dụng làm vách ngăn cách giúp việc lưu thông gió, ánh sáng tốt hơn. Trong nhà ngoài các màu trung tính hoặc xanh thẫm còn có sắc vàng đem lại sự tươi vui, sống động. Trong vườn cũng trồng các loại hoa rực rỡ sắc vàng nổi bật trên nền lá xanh khi tới mùa ra hoa.
